Miss Van was one of the first prominent women working in a male-dominated street art scene when she began her career during the 1990s. She began by painting murals in her hometown of Toulouse, France and has since become instantly recognizable for her signature female characters, which can be seen worlwide. These sultry females reappear in her work wearing animal masks, and are charged with depth, emotion and a romatic darkness. The evoke a sense of delicate romance, as well as surreal qualities.
