Ben Evans (b. 1995, North Carolina) creates a new land of voluptuous, melodramatic subjects in his neo-noir, Los Angeles narratives. Describing his works as “pensive and campy” Evans’ main source of inspiration comes from everyday scenes, and the viewer feels this intimacy when engaging with his paintings. Leisure meets romance in his paintings, as figures smoke cigarettes on tennis courts, walk among palm trees, and bathe in pools. The drama and exaggeration of old Hollywood is right at the surface in his fantastical paintings. Evans studied at the Pratt Institute in New York.
