Spanish artist Felix R. Cid creates paintings that exemplify a formal dialogue with his works as a constant evolution that is generated in his studio where complexities and contradictions are leveled. His work is the result of the constant search for the construction of unstable bodies that represent a consistency between the ideas, the feeling and the materials. Working out of a cargo sea container in the country side on a Mediterranean island, Cid is influenced not only by the weather and culture, but aspects of the rough enviroment surrounding him, calling this place “El Canpo.” Cid states: “I am always looking for the unexpected in my works, the less comfortable the environment for painting, the more chances for accidents I might seem to encounter…The work I create is the product of the consequences that arrive when gestures in space get destroyed, restructured and overall transformed.”
