Jessica Lichtenstein takes inspiration from Japanese anime to explore themes of female representation, power, fetishism, and objectification. Lichtenstein depicts hyper-sexualized female characters blended into colorful backgrounds in a variety of media, including furniture, textiles, photography, acrylic prints and sculptures. Her work invites viewers to appreciate the complexities of women’s sexuality despite social norms that may cause feelings of disgust or shame.
