Allouche Gallery Los Angeles presents Besides My Beauty, Dr Mimi Adu-Serwaah’s debut solo exhibition. Mimi Adu-Serwaah [b. 1994] is an emerging artist based in Accra, Ghana. In this exhibition, Adu-Serwaah is exploring the idea of the galaxy as seen in black skin. Her portraiture presents bits of the cosmos peaking through the human body, seen as what she describes as “kaleidoscopic glitches”. This imagery discusses the idea of perfect imperfections within people, according to Mimi Adu-Serwaah as “that which make a person whole.”
